LUSH Haul & Rant

Hi everyone! Went to LUSH yesterday with my sister and picked up quite a few items. So happy there's a location here in San Diego! To be honest, I just wanted to get two bath bombs, but the sales associates are sofa king pushy! I ended up buying more than I wanted. When we were walking in, we were barely fully in when one approached us and said 'Hi, can I help you find anything?' We politely said we were just browsing. Literally 30 seconds later she came back and said 'How about now?'. We were in there for an hour, but only because they wouldn't stop giving us descriptions about every single item we looked at and how great that item was and how much they love it. One over heard me tell my sis a bath bomb smelled good so she interrupted and proceeded to bring us every item that smelled like jasmine (and I mean: every). One of them really pushed Sunny Side Bubble Bar, while it does look pretty it's a PITA to handle and to clean off the tub. Reading reviews on Yelp for LUSH SF and a LUSH in Chicago at the moment and apparently they're notorious for being pushy. Have any of you had similar experiences?

I got:

Ickle Baby Bot
Sakura
Twilight
Butterball
Sun & Moon Steamer Tab
Rose Jam Bubbleroon
Sunny Side
Porridge soap sample
Rock Star soap sample

Thanks for reading my rant, lol.:)

Love,

  3. I kind of grew up on Lush and a few of my friends worked there through school/uni -- and yes, they are rigorously trained to speak to customers every 30 seconds! If I need to restock on smellies, I stick to my regular store where they know not to bother me.

  4. I think people in bath and body shops in GENERAL are pushy. But I too have heard that the LUSH people are trained to be super pushy. With that said - I'm not as nice as I....read (look makes no sense!) I'll sweetly tell them that I like to shop on my own but i'll be sure to tell them if I need any help. If they bug me a 2nd or third time? I'll tell them flat out. I was going to purchase x x and x but I don't like being accosted so I'll just go order online now. //mean

  5. I worked at Lush for a while, and if you wanna hear me say things, hit me up by email.

    I have THINGS. TO. SAY.

  6. Rock Star and Butterball are two of my favorites! I love LUSH, but usually dread going in there as it means having to let them shove stuff up my nose and having to pretend to listen to them go on about all the ingredients in something for 10 minutes! And I'm so polite I just can't be like CAN YOU PLEASE. LEAVE. ME. ALONE?!?

  7. There is only one LUSH here in Vegas, it's at the Luxor. I took my bf there for a "staycation" for his bday last year and I figured I would mosey on down to LUSH to get something nice to use in the jacuzzi we had in the room. I had pretty much the exact same experience as you did.. I thought it was because it was on the Strip and they may have thought I was a tourist but I guess they're all like that! Really hate high pressure sales like that (esp when I'm shopping w another person and want to discuss the products with THEM and not the sales rep). It definitely made me decide to buy any future LUSH goodies online to avoid having to deal with their employees.

  8. Never been to a LUSH, but the ladies at Sephora are the same way sometimes. So annoying!

Haven't tried Butterball yet but I have a feeling I'll love it.:) You're SO right they do go on for 10 minutes! Ugh, I'm gonna dread going back to get the full size of Rock Star. >_< LOL,we're too nice, we need balls.:(

  13. First off, I'm so jelly you got to use their stuff in a jacuzzi, and second It's CRAZY that you got treated that way, too! Isn't it sooo uncomfortable?? I totally agree, I was trying to shop with my sister and it was impossible to show her anything. Maybe that's why the shops are ridiculously tiny, so that you can't go anywhere, lol. You are very wise, I'm gonna have to do the same as you and shop online. Thanks for sharing! So glad It's not just me. :)

  14. YOU would love LUSH products! Ugh, I know! Same with the ones' at MAC! Though LUSH would win by a landslide in that department!

  15. lol, that's why you gotta get a bit of that rude new yorker in you... or shop in NY where the sales associates don't give a $%^& about making a sale.

  16. GOOD LORD, the associates at every Lush I have been to have been VERY pushy! This is why I do not go in there. There is this black soap they have that smells like cloves that I want but I hate going in there! They are also always trying to touch you and put stuff on you, I hate that!!!! LEAVE ME ALONE, I just want some soap, jeeeez! I try to politely say, "No thanks, I am just looking" but it never works. Or if I say, "I just want a chunk of this lovely black soap" they try and show you ten other things!! ARGHHHH!!! Also, the smell in there is completely overpowering to the point that I feel like I am getting hives or something. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has these LUSH experiences.
