Bobbi Brown Sand Tortoiseshell Eye Palette

San Tortoiseshell ($60) is a neutral palette with eight mattes and metallics. While the packaging is simply stunning, I'm actually torn with the shadows. I'm not sure if they fully convince me. A couple of the shadows, Ivory and Black Chocolate, aren't very pigmented and feel quite dry. For something that cost $60, two bad shadows won't cut the mustard. I wish Sephora carried this in stores so I could have swatched it first, I probably wouldn't have gotten it. The metallics are beautiful though, very beautiful.

Description from Sephora.com

Ivory (matte creamy white), Hot Stone (matte taupe), Terracotta (matte peachy beige), Antique Rose (matte soft dusty rose), and Black Chocolate (matte dark brown) Metallic Eye Shadow in Desert Sand (ivory beige shimmer) and Sandy Rose (silver taupe shimmer) Sparkle Eye Shadow in Gold Bar (sparkling pale gold)

I had to really scrub Ivory and Black Chocolate to pick up anything and they're still sheer

3 out of 5 stars for me. Thanks for reading!

Love,

Sonia

  3. I saw Karen from Makeup And Beauty Blog do a post about this awhile back... the swatches she posted didn't impress me because, like you said, some of the pigmentation was lacking. Too bad because the packaging is so classic.

  5. You're right. The pigmentation doesn't look that great and some of the colors look chalky. I wish the colors were stronger because the range is a great IDEA. ~patpat~ You can't win them all my love.

  9. BLAH, I hate when I pay for something high end that looks pretty but the quality's just not there. The colours of most of the other shadows do look quite pretty, though.
